Following five years of research a huge hygiene breakthrough has been achieved by myM-link member, Seymour Manufacturing International (SMI). Bio-Gard enriched with SteriTouch is a plastic strip curtain that kills 99.99% of illness causing pathogenic bacteria including MRSA, E-Coli and Salmonella. Significantly the curtain does not lose efficacy over time and the bacteria killing property is active throughout the matrix of the material. This means it works even if the curtain is cut or damaged. The effectiveness of Bio-Gard in killing 99.99% of bacteria has been validated by independent experts having been thoroughly tested to: - World Standard JIS Z 2801:2000 - EU Directive 20002/72/EC - ISO 22196 Additionally Bio-Gard ingredients have FDA and EPA approval. It is classified as slow burning to self extinguishing. Bio-Gard is tailor made to any length and is compatible with existing plastic strip hanging arrangements. This makes it ideal for any new or existing doors. Bio-Gard launched in the UK in January 2010 through selected distributers who will also provide a fitting service. Exports commenced in February 2010. As part of the trialling and testing programme Bio-Gard has been fitted into Palethorpes factory in Market Drayton, a Pork Farm Group Company, "This product is another terrific weapon in our already strong arsenal of hygiene control. It is a cost effective, no nonsense and simple way to add a further safeguard to our operation" said Ian Catchpole Engineering Manager at Pork Farms. Commenting on this exciting hygiene breakthrough, SMI's Chairman Brian Seymour said, "The big retailers I have spoken to told me that they could not afford to ignore such a positive advance in hygiene. They also proposed to recommend Bio-Gard to their suppliers. There are applications across the health sector that SMI will be actively pursuing. The future for this product looks very positive", he continued. |
