A Midland manufacturer of specialist health care profiling beds is setting new standards for trauma and spinal injury treatment with the launch of a radical new product.
Nexus DMS, based in Droitwich in Worcestershire, has worked closely with clinicians and nursing staff over the last eight years to develop a turning bed which offers the highest standard of precision control for nursing professionals along and security for patients in a position-critical environment.
The product is the result of eight years of research.
The Legacy lateral tilting bed features as many as 28 adjustable powered functions, including a pressure redistribution mattress system, and has been developed by Nexus with the support of chartered accountants Chantrey Vellacott DFK.
Nexus managing director John Robinson said the firm carried out extensive research alongside nursing staff at Stoke Mandeville National Spinal Injuries Centre and Oswestry Midlands Centre for Spinal Injuries.
He said: "We started out with a blank canvas and now have a finished product which has no less than 28 individually adjustable elements which represents an enormous feat of engineering.
"We encountered some very challenging demands during this process as nursing specialists and patients expect the best, and quite rightly so, and to see the finished product in use now is so rewarding."
Nick Simkins, partner at Chantrey Vellacott DFK, said the launch of the Legacy bed is a major milestone in Nexus' history.
"I remember seeing the first prototype when the project was in its infancy and the finished product has come a long way since then and is highly impressive." |
