A unique e-learning approach looks set to transform healthcare staff training across the world, as a result of a clever partnership between two myM-link members.
One of the world’s leading suppliers of reusable sharps safety devices, Sharpsmart UK, has joined forces with e-Learning Studios, who has previously developed and hosted a number of courses for healthcare institutions and suppliers, to develop the Learning Institute On-Line (LION). Sharpsmart’s reusable sharps collection device is rapidly becoming the system of choice for healthcare workers and managers across the world, providing safety engineered devices that help to prevent the risk of injuries from medical sharps. But it is also critical to have a well-trained and adequately resourced workforce to ensure that systems are used as intended. Over the past 12 months, while the system’s dramatic success has increased turnover by over 50%, Neil Robinson, managing director Sharpsmart UK, calculates that the company’s implementation team has engaged with over 50,000 healthcare workers while delivering face-to-face training on the safe disposal of healthcare generated sharps using the Sharpsmart system. Users are benefiting with reduced costs, needlestick injury elimination, waste reduction, and compliance support with safe waste management practices. Sue Wilde, myM-link manager said: “This is exciting new way to train healthcare staff that improves patient care and staff safety while providing a new commercial opportunity for both companies. As the leaders in their respective fields, it is great to see these two dynamic companies coming to together to invest and develop a new service, which has been eagerly and enthusiastically adopted by healthcare providers.” |
