55441 Diabetic Retinopathy Screening Programme
This consortia of primary care trusts is seeking to commission two elements of a high quality screening programme for diabetic retinopathy. The programme will be required to meet all national standards and be based on good practice advice from the English National Screening Programme for Diabetic Retinopathy (ENSPDR) and the National Screening Committee.
The Central Mersey Diabetic Retinopathy Screening Programme provides a service for the c.35,000 people with diabetes aged over 12 and registered with a GP in the areas covered by the PCTs. Patients can choose to have their screening at an NHS fixed site (currently six, with 222 appointment slots available each week) or at a local optometrist who participates in the programme (currently 23).
Our aim is to continue to offer this wide choice of screening venues to our patients and to increase uptake, aided by the use of a mobile camera.
Lot1:
Fixed site screening; mobile screening
Lot 2:
Primary, secondary and arbitration grading; slit lamp biomicroscopy examinations (TUPE arrangements apply)
**Note- there are two lots, likely contract value is £145000 per lot.**
Further information and full details of the contracting authority are available on request.
